Is atmospheric carbon the key to restoring nutritious food as well as rainwater conservation?

I have been studying this hypothesis for several years now, and it is interesting to see some higher profile journalism suggesting the same.

The hypothesis is on whether our soils can absorb all of the carbon in the atmosphere.  We need that carbon in order to produce more nutritious foods, and to hold more surface water in the soil (i.e. less rainwater run-off).  The key to the equation is that water follows carbon, and that the best way to sequester carbon is through the use of cattle!
